Died 12 January 1976 in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles, California, USA, of cancer.

Son of actor and director Francis Ford and writer and actress Elsie Van Name.
Nephew of director and actor John Ford.

Phil Ford began his acting career in his father’s serial film The Purple Mask (1916). Ford acted in more than a dozen films before becoming an assistant director on his uncle’s films. In later years, Phil also went into directing.
