FEATURE FILMS ON BLU-RAY DISC HOME VIDEO

While no formal release date has been set, Kino International has confirmed they will release the full-length restored edition of Fritz Lang’s Metropolis (1927) on Blu-ray Disc and DVD home video in 2009. In light of the 2 July 2008 announcement of the recovery in Argentina of missing Metropolis footage in a worn 16mm reduction negative, the Kino release will be delayed until such time the Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau Stiftung, restoration coordinator and rights controller of the film, can incorporate the recently-recovered additional footage into a new, far more complete, restoration version of the film.
